Photo by Todd Boland (from the <a href=\"https:\/\/nargs.org\/photo\/adonis-cyllenea\">North American Rock Garden Society<\/a>)<\/p><\/div>\n<p><em>Adonis <\/em>cyllenea was described in 1856 from a specimen collected in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.peloponnese.eu\/peloponnese-mountains\">Peloponnese Mountains<\/a> of Greece (<a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2xgG1lS\">http:\/\/bit.ly\/2xgG1lS<\/a>). It was thought to be extinct in the wild until 1976 when it was rediscovered (<a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Adonis_cyllenea\">https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Adonis_cyllenea<\/a>). It was recorded in the Giresun province of Turkey in 1867 and was just rediscovered there (<a href=\"http:\/\/bit.ly\/2vfDPcO\">http:\/\/bit.ly\/2vfDPcO<\/a>). Occasionally, there is good news about plants that were thought to be extinct.
