Back from New Zealand

Our flight landed at Bradley just before midnight last night -- 25 1/2 hours after we left Christchurch. It was a great 19 days. The Summer Institute presentations went well, and we saw a lot of New Zealand.

Over the next week or so, I expect to be making posts about a few things that happened while I was away and a few about New Zealand.1 Here's a preview of what to expect:2

  • About New Zealand
    • Invasive plants and animals
    • National parks (Tongariro, Fjordlands, and Aoraki/Mt. Cook)
    • The New Zealand landscape
  • Obama and science
  • Science journalism
  • Public university finances

1I didn't study any New Zealand natural history before I left, and I picked up only a couple of books (primarily on plants) while I was there. I'm a fairly lousy field botanist/naturalist, so don't expect any deep insights. I hope what I say is accurate, but I can't make any guarantees.
2Though not necessarily in this order. The non New Zealand topics may require more than one post apiece.
