Ruminations of an Aspiring Ecologist is one of the blogs I read regularly. It's written by Karina who is describes herself and her blog this way.

Karina
Big City, United States
Twenty-something second year grad student in ecology with aspirations to teach and lead foreign study programs. This blog is about my adventures negotiating the waters of academia and my life in general. So far, I really like grad school.

She's blogging anonymously,1 but she mentioned on Friday that she comes up high in a Google search. In fact, when I googled "blog ecologist", her blog came up first! Not bad for an aspiring ecologist.

Now, of course, she's worried that someone at UBC (University of Big City) will find her blog and immediately identify her.

Karina, if you're reading this, don't worry about being discovered. You're helping every non-scientist who reads your blog to see that scientists are people too, and you're helping every young ecologist who reads your blog to see that they're not alone in their struggles.

Keep on blogging!

1I have a guess about what city and what institution Karina is affiliated with, but it's only a guess, and I'm not going to speculate.

Gee, thanks Kent! I can already see my visits spiking from the publicity. Actually, you were the first blogger to 'discover' my blog last fall. I'm glad you still enjoy reading it!
