Annual sea ice minimum in the ArcticNASA estimates of Arctic sea ice cover at the end of each summer (from NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center; click here for larger version).
I mentioned about a month ago that sea ice in the Arctic reached a new minimum at the end of this summer. I knew this was a big deal, but I didn't realize how rapid and how dramatic the decline in sea ice has been. The illustration from NASA at the left is pretty remarkable, but if you really want to see something dramatic, click here to see the movie.
