The top ten species in 2010

| No Comments | No TrackBacks
My colleague, Janine Caira, chairs an international panel of biologists who select the top ten new species described every year. The results for 20101 are now in. One is from North America (the bombardier worm Swima bombiviridis), one is from South America (the short-circuited electric fish Gymnotus omarorum), one is a killer sponge from New Zealand (Chondrocladia (Meliiderma) turbiformis), and the rest are from Africa and southeast Asia. Visit http://species.asu.edu/Top10 for more information.

1The top ten species in 2010 were described in 2009.
