The Structure of Scientific Thought

Science 240

Fall 2002

Required texts

1. Kosso, Peter. Reading the Book of Nature.
2. Ellis, George F. R. Before the Beginning: Cosmology Explained.
3. Richards, Janet Radcliffe. Human Nature After Darwin.
4. Lots of essays on reserve at the Library, available both through Electronic Course Reserve and in hard copy. If you are trying to access the electronic reserves from off-campus, you should be able to do so through WebCT. If you haven't used WebCT before you can find hints at http://webct.uconn.edu/web-ct/help/en/mywebct/MyWebCT.html. Alternatively, you can apply for a proxy account and access the Electronic Course Reserve pages directly.

It is important that you keep up with assigned readings. Ideally you should read each assignment before the lecture, and then again after the lecture. Read carefully and reflectively. Come to class with any questions you have on the readings.
