Molecular evolution: history and principles

For more than 50 years population geneticists have been using molecular tools to reveal genetic variation. Today we'll start by reviewing some of the types of molecular variation available for study and some of the methods used for revealing that variation. Then we'll start talking about how to predict the evolution of nucleotide sequences as a prelude to describing the neutral theory of molecular evolution.
