Genetic drift, mutation and migration

By now you should have a pretty solid understanding of how genetic drift works in a single population when nothing else is going on. Today we're going to talk about what happens when there's both genetic drift and either mutation or migration. To do the math properly would be really challenging, but we can illustrate the principles pretty simply using the inbreeding analogy to drift. So that's what we'll do. Put your thinking caps on and think hard about identity by descent. We'll be using it extensively during this period.
