Genetics of natural selection: estimating viabilities

We'll spend a little time reviewing the basic principles of natural - viability - selection at one locus with two alleles. Then we'll talk about how to estimate viabilities. Remember, the challenge is that we often can't genotype an individual without killing it. As a result, we often can't compare the genotypes of individuals who died with those who didn't. You won't be surprised to learn that there is a sneaky way out of this dilemma. It involves a new concept that we'll discuss today - relative viability.
