Systematics and biodiversity conservation

We'll take a quick tour of one aspect of systematics and how it applies to conservation problems. I'll mention phylogeny only briefly. Mostly we will concentrate on "evolutionarily siginificant units", "distinct population segments", and related concepts. You might want to glance at the wolf papers from Monday's lecture so that we can talk about ESUs and DPSs in the context of the western Great Lakes wolves.
